My opinion piece is about abortion, and how women should have the right to choose whether they get one or not.
Here are some arguments that I may wish to investigate further/ expand on:
Statistically, the number of abortions does not change, regardless of whether they are performed in countries where it's legal or illegal, so for the safety of vulnerable women, abortion clinics should be open and available to everyone.
People who are anti-abortion should focus on contraception instead of closing abortion clinics.
Women shouldn't be forced into keeping a child that they cannot/ do not wish to support.
Pro-choice is fair, because if a woman personally doesn't want to have an abortion, she doesn't have to. Other people's choices do not affect her (or anyone else) personally.
An unborn fetus is not a human being, and cannot feel pain.

  1. I think is a really good topic choice. It is such a debated topic and your pro choice argument will also enter into the idea of human rights

  2. This is a great topic choice and I 100% agree with your argument. Its not fair on the child to be brought into a world that is not capable of being provided everything and more than it needs and it's important for mothers to consider that when deciding whether or not to have an abortion.

  3. Great choice! I didnt like to see how the women were talked in to having the baby when they are not in the condition to do so! Im looking forward to the final argument :)

    1. Well everyone should be able to have as much sex as they want without repercussions. Unfortunately for women, a 'repercussion' they may have to deal with is unwanted pregnancy.
And I highly doubt that if abortions were accessible women would start going "Oh hey, let's not use a condom, I'll just go and get an abortion later."
I think that getting an abortion is still a big deal for most women regardless of how you feel about them, and at the very least, making an appointment, filling out forms, and getting the abortion would be far more inconvenient than just using contraception in the first place.

    3. oh right, the thing about an unborn fetus not feeling pain was just a concept that I wanted to look into, not something I necessarily believe. Although I still don't consider a fetus a human being, regardless of whether it feels pain. It's widely argued at which point a fetus starts to feel pain, so averaging it out, I would conclude it to be around 20 weeks, and most abortions are performed well before then, and late term abortions are often due to detecting previously hidden serious defects in the unborn child.

  6. I'm always divided on this issue. On one hand I feel for the unborn children who will never get to experience life, on the other hand if you're not prepared to be parents, I believe you shouldn't make your children suffer for it. Who knows? It's like asking whether life is better or death. You've admittedly chosen a "sensitive" topic and you're brave to handle this.
