Katie Tomlinson's Five References

Family Guy is an adult animated series that follows the lives of the Griffen family in the town of Quahog. Family guy's humour techniques are usually gag's that make a lot of references to other shows or mocking towards  modern icons/celebrities. They tend to use catchphrases, for example Peter uses the catch phrase " freakin awesome" and Quagmire infamous " giggity
giggity".

South Park is an adult animated series which follows four young boys that live in a small fictional town. South park is famous for it's crude sense of humour and often gets criticised for it's dark comedy and uses of offensive topics. They tend to delve in to a lot of 'taboo' subjects such as religion and politics.

The Simpsons is a animated sitcom that follows the Simpsons family in the fictional town of Springfield. Like Family guy and South Park they tend to use gags and mockery for a lot of their humour. They use a lot of references to film, TV shows and history with guest appearances from celebrities.

Johnny Bravo is a a iconic animated television shown on Cartoon Network. Johnny is your classic "beefcake" which follows him through his days of "woman chasing". The humour used in Johnny Bravo is a very classic self mockery, his character is your typical 'jock' who is unintelligent and in love himself. Even though this was aired on a children's TV network it like all the other examples uses a lot of sly adult humour.

Spoungebob Square Pants is a one of Nickelodeon's animated series that follows Spoungebob and his friends in a under the sea town "Bikini Bottom". In Spoungebob they take a light hearted approach to the characters and uses quite stereotypical roles, for example Mr Crabs is greedy and cheap, Patrick is stupid and Squidward is uptight and boring.
